FIC President Gave Interview for “Ekonom:еast”
22. February 2010
In his interview for "Ekonom:еast", FIC President Kjell-Morten Johnsen has warned that high risks, an inconsistent tax policy, and labour issues represent serious obstacles to investing in Serbia.
Workers' rights must be respected, but it is vital to make things less complex, which should be the task of labour unions and line ministries, added Johnsen.
He also said that the projected 1.5%-2% GDP growth this year will be enough to stabilize Serbia's economy, but not to bring back the lost jobs. When it comes to Telenor's operations in Serbia, Johnsen said he expects the first half of 2010 to be even more difficult than 2009, and he repeated that the company hopes that the government will abolish a temporary 10% tax on mobile services, which was introduced as part of fiscal adjustment measures last year.
