Telecommunications & IT Committee

Foreign Investors Council established a sector specific committee on telecommunications in January 2009 upon expressed interest of members from telecom and related industries to proactively advocate for improvement of investment climate in telecom sector. As of June 2010, the Committee expanded its portfolio to include IT portfolio.

The main aim of this Committee is to facilitate discussion on regulatory issues among representatives of member companies and provide proposals on how to improve regulatory framework relating to the telecommunication and IT industries.

The Committee's overall priorities are to:

  • establish a platform for successful and fruitful cooperation with the authorities, in particular the Ministry of Culture, Media and Information Society and RATEL
  • establish regular communication with relevant stakeholders in order to promote FIC views influence regulatory reforms by conducting analysis of relevant laws and by-laws
  • discuss the current situation in telecommunications and IT sectors and formulate proposals for their improvement
  • share experiences on how to overcome regulatory problems foreign investors face in daily operations within the telecommunication and IT domains
  • share the best practices from the markets where committee members operate
  • organize roundtables, presentations and other forms of promoting better regulation and better conditions for doing business
