The moving exhibition on objects making life easier – Design for All
Belgrade, February 22, 2010 - Eurobank EFG and the Inclusive Society Development Centre (CRID) have signed today an Agreement on donation worth 20.000 euros, signalling the beginning of the "Moving Inclusive Museum" project. This project, whose aim is to improve the living conditions of persons with disability, will be conducted under the auspices of the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy of the Government of the Republic of Serbia.
The beginning of the student competition for best practical objects which will simplify lives of persons with disabilities and their families has been announced at the today's conference. The competition is open until April 02 for students from art, architecture, forestry and design faculties at state and private universities. Detailed information and rules of the contest can be found at a specially designed Web page www.inkluzivnimuzej.org. Students' works will be judged by an independent body consisting of experts from EIDD - Design for All Europe, Academica di Belle Arti di Bologna and EIDD members from Serbia. After the announcement of the winners, the selected works will be displayed in several towns in Serbia, dubbed the "Moving Inclusive Museum". In this way, citizens will be acquainted with the challenges that persons with disabilities face in everyday life and to what degree inventive objects could make their life easier.
The Moving Inclusive Museum marks another chapter in already fruitful cooperation between Eurobank EFG and the Inclusive Society Development Centre (CRID), which realized several projects successfully. Eurobank EFG is among few companies in Serbia that adjusted its head office and branches according to the criteria of "Design for All", for which CRID provided expertise.
- Support to inclusive society is one of the pillars of Eurobank EFG responsible business operations in Serbia. So far, we had great support from CRID, which provided training to our branch staff, expertise on how to furbish our premises and adjust our website, so that they are accessible to everyone. Moving Inclusive Museum marks a new milestone in our cooperation with CRID and our wish is to propel consciousness with local manufacturers, in order to launch production of some of objects accessible to all," said Slavica Popovic, Member of the Executive Board of Eurobank EFG at a press conference.
- As a large part of the population, persons with disabilities are extremely marginalised in Serbia. Together with our partners from the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy and Eurobank EFG, we sincerely hope to improve living conditions of persons with disabilities and their families, stated Ms. Vesna Bogdanovic, CRID Executive Director.
- The principal function of the Moving Inclusive Museum is to showcase the successful blend of form and function, providing role models and inspiration for designers and their potential clients: the entrepreneurs operating in the private and the public sector. The Moving Inclusive Museum project is an excellent occasion to turn attention to problems individuals with disability are facing on a daily basis, and the European Institute for Design and Disability is happy to be given an opportunity to provide its support, explained Pete Kercher, a guest at the press conference and the Ambassador of EIDD - Design for All Europe.
Eurobank EFG in Serbia has combined a dynamic business strategy with investments into development of the local community ever since its foundation.
